Meet the instructors

Warren Berry

My martial arts journey began by  being introduced to Judo at the age of 10. Instinctively, I realised this was what I needed in my life and achieved my 1st Dan in the BJA aged 15.

In 1998, I competed in my first MMA bout at the KSBO international, winning by RNC, and went on to compete professionally, finishing with a 2-1 record.

At 14, I started weight training and proceeded to win multiple BAWLA Kent, Southern England, and British titles in the u20 and u23 categories.

In 2008, I put my gi back on and  started learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I received my black belt in 2017 and am currently a 2nd degree black belt under Ben Poppleton representing team Gordo.

I am available for 1-2-1 or small group sessions of MMA and BJJ. To find out more, contact ashfordvaletudo@hotmail.com or phone 07875 777374.

Ben Stewart

I decided to get into shape, hit the gym and start kickboxing in 1997. This led to an obsession and and the practice of other styles of martial arts including judo, boxing, wrestling, MMA and even some kung foo. I competed in KSBO rules and had six pro-rules MMA fights.

As I favoured grappling and submissions, I committed to Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu and began my journey to my black belt which I received under Professor Ben Poppleton in October 2021. I have completed in BJJ at every belt level from white to black as an enthusiastic hobbiest.

I am involved in teaching classes here at AVT in gi and no-gi Jui-Jitsu, MMA and self-defence for adults and juniors.

Outside of the gym, I am a family man who enjoys fishing, loves music and playing the guitar.

I am available for 1-2-1 or small group sessions, beginner/intermediate striking, MMA, self-defence and of course BJJ. Please contact me at: ashfordvaletudo@hotmail.com or phone 07725 074103
